AYSO Announces Playoff Games

The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) Region 862, comprised of the communities of Bath, Laingsburg, Ovid-Elsie and St. John's, is proud to announce its plans for the first annual Play-Offs. The 862 Play-offs will consist of all U10 and older teams playing their last 2 scheduled games of each season in a competitive atmosphere. Score keeping will take place, and medals will be awarded to the top 2 placing teams in each age division (for both girls and boys) after the randomly assigned round robin is complete. These play-offs will not affect the younger age divisions play, all age divisions will play a total of 8 games in the fall, and 7 games in the spring.
Two local coaches from the Laingsburg Community are spearheading the Finals effort, Richard Darr and Tim Barnett. According to the Regional Coordinator, Theresa Sheldon, "Coaches from all the communities have been asking for an increase in the competitiveness of the local leagues, now that they have been established for a while." The play-offs will allow the 5 standing philosophies of AYSO to coexist with the brand new 6th philosophy of player development, which was just integrated into the national AYSO program.
